Postgraduate Education & Training Series
This Series provides an in-depth view of Bowen family systems theory. Trainees study, discuss and apply major theoretical concepts to their personal and professional functioning. The Series is for postgraduate individuals of all professional backgrounds. Monthly classes include lectures, video discussion and consultation. Heartland Conference: “Theoretical and Clinical Importance of the Unidisease Concept”
The Heartland Conference is an annual conference focusing on the theoretical concepts and applications of Bowen family systems theory. Michael Kerr, M.D., Director of the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family and other guest presenters are invited to present their current work and thinking about the functioning of natural systems. Open Classroom
Open Classroom is the last Education & Training Series class of the academic year. It is open to individuals who have a serious interest in an ongoing study of the theory. This full day workshop features Dan Papero, Ph.D., senior faculty member, the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family. Annual 2008-2009 Video Series
A monthly video series, “Schizophrenia, Diagnosis is not Destiny” from the Spring Conference sponsored by the Bowen Center in April, 2008. Videos will be shown on the second Friday of the month. Margaret Otto will lead the discussion following the tapes. CEU’s are available.
Live Monthly Webcast Lectures
with Michael Kerr, M.D.
Monthly, 90 minute live lectures, broadcasting from Washington, D.C. with Michael Kerr, M.D.. On Mondays, various teaching topics are presented and live discussion follows. Clinical Consultation Group
Individual group members apply the theory to clinical cases and work systems. Faculty facilitator presents theoretical concepts from Bowen Theory. Times to be arranged. Call: Margaret Otto, 816-436-1721 ext. #4. Other consultation groups can be arranged for specific professional groups, i.e. clergy, business, etc. .
Postgraduate Seminar
The Postgraduate Seminar provides a forum for presentations and theoretical discussion on Bowen family systems theory. Participants are individuals who have provided programs in the community for several years, conducted ongoing research, written theoretical papers and/or participated in the Special Postgraduate Program at the Bowen Center in Washington, D.C. for three or more years. Video Library
The K.C. Center has a collection of Bowen family systems theory videos, DVDs and audio tapes. Individuals are welcome to view catalogued materials at the Center office and make arrangements for viewing. A small donation is requested.
